A taste of honey: first ‘ruta de la tapa amb mel’ for Perelló
Bars and restaurants in El Perelló will offer tapas featuring honey – the town’s famous product – from 8 to 10 April.
The ‘ruta de la tapa amb mel’, organised by Mel Muria, will take place during the weekend before Perelló’s Firabril, which celebrates the town’s honey and oil production.
Eight bars and restaurants are participating: El Canyis, Puntaire, CalXic, Can Subirats, C’Moi, Fleca Ferré, L’Ambigu and Mos de Tros. The tapas they have created include a mini pizza with aubergine, goat’s cheese and honey from L’Ambigu, and a ‘xupito’ of prawn with romesco sauce and honey from C’Moi.
Tickets cost six euros each. Each ticket includes three tapas and two drinks (of Heineken or water), free entry to Mel Muria’s honey centre during that weekend and entry into a raffle.
Tickets are on sale from Mel Muria’s shop, the bars and restaurants that are participating and the town’s final year schoolchildren, who are selling the tickets to raise money for their end of term school trip.
Participants can vote for their favourite tapa via Mel Muria’s Facebook page – you’ll need to take a photo of it and ‘like’ and ‘share’ it. All Facebook voters have a chance to win a hamper of bee products. The winning tapa will be decided upon by a jury selected by Mel Muria; Facebook votes will count as one additional jury member.
Tapas tasting takes place at the following times:
- Friday 8 April, 7pm to 9.30pm
- Saturday 9 April, 12pm to 2pm and 7pm to 9.30pm
- Sunday 10 April, 12pm to 2pm
Prizes will be awarded at Mel Muria’s stand at Firabril at 5.30pm on Saturday 16 April.
