Els Ports Walking Group March excursions
The Els Ports Walking Group (find out more about the group in this article) has two walks planned for the final weeks of March.
These are the descriptions of the walks from the Els Ports Walking Group organisers Colin and Valerie.
Friday 24 March, Montsia to la Foradada
A moderate 6- to 7-hour, 10km walk in the mountains behind Sant Carles de la Rapita. Start at 10am from the parking area. This walk gives superb views over the town and out to sea, especially through the archway of the Foradada rock formation. It’s the biggest walk the group has attempted so far.
Friday 31 March, Five Ermitas and a Ridge
Seven kilometres to be tackled over six hours, allowing time for stops to enjoy views and ruined chapels. Start at 10am from the Balneari de Cardo car park. The moderately challenging walk will start at the impressive ruins of the Balneari de Cardo which opened in 1872 as a luxury spa hotel and was previously a convent for Carmelite ‘barefoot’ nuns.
If you are interested in joining this friendly group, contact Colin and Valerie Bailey (info@walkinginelsports.org ) who will send you information of where to meet with a more detailed description of what to expect on that particular walk.
They will let people know of any last-minute changes due to weather conditions or high winds which may preclude walking on the day.
