Emergencies and healthcare
Need to report a fire, call an ambulance or contact the police? Here is a useful list of phone numbers and websites for emergencies and healthcare in Catalunya.
Emergency telephone number (fire, police, ambulance)
Telephone: 112
Operators can speak English as well as Catalan, Spanish, French and German.
There’s a useful guide to the 112 service here.
If you have a Spanish iTunes or Google Play account, the My112 app will geolocate your call.
Medical information telephone number (CatSalut Respon)
Telephone: 061
This is for medical enquiries that aren’t emergencies – more information here.
The 061 CatSalut Respon App will geolocate your call. It also offers a chat service and information about your nearest medical centres and pharmacies. This app is available in English as well as Catalan and Spanish.
Forest fires
Call 112 immediately if you see a fire – forest fires can spread rapidly.
The Catalan government has published an information leaflet in English about how to protect yourself and your home from forest fires and what to do in an emergency. See the pdf here.
Wildlife and the environment
The Agents Rurals have responsibility for protecting and caring for the environment. They can help, for example, if you find an injured animal, are concerned about a dog being mistreated, or if a snake is in your home or garden. Call them on 935 617 000.
Burglaries
Report burglaries to the Catalan police force, the Mossos d’Esquadra. You can find your nearest Mossos d’Esquadra station here. English-speaking officers are sometimes available to help. You can also fill out a crime report online here, but you must also sign it at a police station.
