N340 demonstration, 29 October 2015
On Thursday 29 October, demonstrators closed the N340 for an hour to demand government action to reduce accidents.
This was the sixth consecutive week that the demonstration took place. Events were also held at the same time in Les Cases d’Alcanar and Vinaros.
So far in 2015, 17 people have died in accidents in the stretch of the N340 that runs between L’Ametlla de Mar and L’Aldea and is mostly just one lane in each direction. The demonstrators want the AP7 toll road to be free between L’Hospitalet de l’Infant and Peñiscola. This will ease pressure on the N340 which is experiencing increasing numbers of vehicles, particularly lorries, every year.
The event began with a minute’s silence for victims of accidents on the road.
The next demonstration will take place on Thursday 5 November at 4.15pm at the N340 L’Ametlla junction (also at Les Cases d’Alcanar and Vinaros). On Wednesday 4 November at 7.30pm there will be a meeting organised by the ‘AP7 Gratuita Ja’ group in the sala de reunions of the Hotel d’Entitats in El Perelló.
